Swimming Completes Day One at Tiger Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou men's and women's swimming teams concluded day one competition at the Tiger Invite Friday, Jan. 31 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. The meet is the Tigers' final tune-up until the 2014 Southeastern Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 18-22 in Athens, Ga.

Sophomore Anna Patterson opened Mizzou's evening with a win in the women's 100 fly with a time of 53.60. Freshman Katharine Ross notched a career best time of 55.23 in the event to take third. One the men's side, senior Logan Mosley led a Missouri dominated field to claim first in 48.45. Mosley was followed by freshman Andrew Sansoucie in second (48.54), sophomore Daniel Graviss in third (48.69) and junior Mack Darragh was fourth in 48.87.

In the men's 500 free, junior Eegan Groome paced the Tigers with a swim of 4:26.15 to earn first-place. Junior Andrew Phillips took second in 4:28.89, sophomore Levi Hanks was third in 4:30.15 and freshman Carter Griffin finished fourth in 4:31.93.

Freshman Michael Chadwick led a Mizzou one-two-three sweep in the 200 IM after a swim of 1:48.45. He was followed by freshman Kevin Poskin in second in 1:52.70 and freshman Eddie Mapel in third with a 1:53.54.

Patterson earned her second win of the night in the 50 free with a time of 22.71, just 0.2 off her season best. Junior Emily Doucette took third in 23.66, while freshman Victoria Trost swam a personal best 23.94 for fifth.

On the men's side, Mosley joined Patterson as a double winner with a 20.30 in the 50 free to take first. Freshman Keiser Witte notched a career best 20.31 to place second, while sophomore Max Grodecki swam a 20.42 for third.

Mizzou continues action at the Tiger Invite at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1.
