Tigers Continue Competition at Georgia Diving Invite

ATHENS, Ga. - The Mizzou diving team continued competition at the Georgia Diving Invitational with three top-seven finishes on day two action on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga. The Tigers are competing against 13 other schools, including Southeastern Conference foes Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Tennessee and host Georgia.

On the men's 1-meter, senior David Bonuchi (Columbia, Mo.) and sophomore Clark Thomas (Olathe, Kan.) advanced to finals to finish second and fifth, respectively. Bonuchi, who ended prelims in eighth with 314.35 points, notched a finals round score of 376.85 to end up in second-place.

Thomas was the top prelims finisher with a career high tally of 365.65, which bested his previous high of 349.95. The sophomore posted 314.35 points in the finals to finish in fifth-place.

Sophomore Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Mich.) led the way on the women's 3-meter as she took seventh overall with a finals round score of 287.75. She was the 13th-best finisher in prelims with a total of 269.10.

Redshirt junior Loren Figueroa (Houston, Texas) narrowly missed finals with a 13th-place finish after a round of 262.85. Junior Lauren Callin (Middleton, Wis.) was 28th with 231.10.

Final day action at the Georgia Diving Invitational gets underway at 9 a.m. CT on Sunday, Jan. 5 with the men's and women's platform competition.
