Bonuchi Claims 1-Meter at Tennessee Diving Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Junior David Bonuchi claimed the 1-meter springboard title during day one competition at the Tennessee Diving Invitational Thursday afternoon at the Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

Columbia, Mo., native Bonuchi scored 374.70 points in the finals to claim top honors. His score was almost 75 points more than the second-place finisher. He has now won the last eight events he has competed.

Bonuchi posted a score of 327.25 in the morning preliminary action to advance to the final round. Freshman Clark Thomas placed 16th in prelims with a score of 285.05. Also competing for the Tigers were freshmen Cameron Cowgill (199.10) and Michael Barry (189.80).

Competition continues Friday with the women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter springboard events beginning at 10:30 a.m.
