In February 2007 Jana Heitmeyer was named the Director of Sports Nutrition for the University of Missouri after serving the previous three years as an Assistant Director and Graduate Assistant. In this role she is responsible for nutrition education, body composition analysis, and diet analysis for all Missouri student-athletes. She will also be designing and implementing programs for gymnastics, swimming & diving, as well as assisting with football. Other duties include: strength & conditioning camp director, and coordinator of wellness programs and athletic department health promotion.
Originally from northwest Ohio, Heitmeyer graduated from Kent State University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in zoology and pre-medicine. In May 2006, she received her Master's of Education in Health Education and Promotion from the University of Missouri. She is currently working towards her degree in Nutrition with plans to be a Registered Dietitian. As a member of the Kent State University gymnastics team, she was a four-year letter winner and three time captain during her career with the Golden Flashes. While at Kent State, she served as an intern in the strength and conditioning department for a year and a half assisting with the volleyball, soccer, women's basketball, gymnastics, and golf programs.
Heitmeyer is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
