The Tigers had six individual swimmers and two divers qualify, in addition to four who will swim only relays.
2011-12 (FRESHMAN): Holds the Mizzou records in the 500 free (4:18.47), 1000 free (9:10.12) and 1650 free (15:09.33) ... Qualified for the 2012 National Championships in the 500 free with a season-high time of 4:18.47 ... Placed 32nd at the Championships in the 500 free with a time of 4:21.88 ... Finished fourth in the 1650 free (15:25.10) and the 500 free (4:22.08) at the Big 12 Championships ... Won the 500 and 1650 frees at the Mizzou Invite ... Took first place in the 200 and 500 free against Drury ... Claimed first place in the 500 free against Denver and Northwestern ... Also won the 500 and 1000 free against Kentucky and SIU ... Won the 400 free at the Show-Me Showdown.
HIGH SCHOOL - Groome swam through high school for the First Colony Swim Team, where he posted best times of 3:56.13 in the 400 free and 15:41.94 in the 1500 free, long course meters. He was an Olympic Trials Qualifier in both events.
Coach Rhodenbaugh: "We are so excited to have him in our program. He has been training on his own during the past couple of seasons and will flourish in an environment where he has someone to race on a daily basis. His converted mile time is already within a second of what it took to qualify for NCAA's last year."
PERSONAL - Eegan is the son of Lynn and Joyce Groome... has a brother, Bryce, and sister, Kirsten, who swims at Southern Illinois University... majoring in biology.
