Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Golf Head Coach Mark Leroux announced the signing of five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, bolstering a young, talented roster for the future.

Leroux and assistant coach Judd Easterling added three of Missouri's top high school players, Jim Siegfried (Town and Country, Mo. / De Smet), Alex Palen (Rogersville, Mo. / Logan-Rogersville H.S.) and Donald Stimble (Shell Knob, Mo.), while also signing Hayden Buckley (Tupelo, Miss./Tupelo), the No. 2 player in Mississippi, and Luigi Botta, a member of the Italian Junior National Team.

"We really like this class and were able to get quality players and student-athletes across the board," Leroux said. "Depth is such an important component in the Southeastern Conference and we feel like we have added five talented players to keep our program competitive at a national level."

Siegfried is the top player in Missouri for the Class of 2014 and won the 2013 Junior PGA Championship Sectional Qualifier in June. He also finished among the Top 10 at a pair of American Junior Golf Association events, including third at the AJGA Midwest Junior Players Championship. He later finished ninth at the AJGA's Lockton Kansas City Junior in July.

Palen is ranked among the top players in Missouri for the class of 2014 as well, and was a three time all-state award winner. He finished fifth at the 2013 Class 3 state tournament and won five events in the Missouri high school ranks last season. The senior improved steadily on the national scene as well, placing among the Top Five twice and earning four Top 20 finishes in National Junior Golf events.

Stimble rounds out the solid list of in-state signings by Leroux and finished second at the 2013 National Christian Home School Tournament last year. He also competed in four AJGA events, finishing 55th in Kansas City and 45th twice at the Bass Pro Payne Stewart Junior Championship and the AJGA Under Armour/Hunter Mahan Championship.

Mizzou Golf also dipped into Mississippi to sign Buckley. Buckley won the Mississippi Junior Golf Pros of Tomorrow event with rounds of 75-69 and finished third at the Mississippi Junior Boys Amateur, with steady rounds of 72-72-74. A third place finisher in the Mississippi State Class 6A Tournament in 2013, Buckley's top national event was the AJGA Junior at Steelhead presented by AT&T, where he shot 78-71-73 to finish 31st.

Botta hopes to continue a terrific trend of foreign success for the Tigers on the golf course. A member of Italy's Junior National Team, Botta helped Italy win the silver medal at the European Boys Team Championship in 2012 and was a winner of the 2012 Italian Amateur Order of Merit. In addition to having great international experience, Botta is one of Italy's top junior players, finishing second at the 2013 Emilio Pallavicino event and fourth at the Vecchio Monastero Grand Prix. He finished just three shots off the pace at the Pallavicino U18 Team Championships and fired a third-round 67 to shoot up the standings in the Monastero Grand Prix.
