Columbia, Mo. -
Missouri has yet another athlete angling for Gold at the 2011 World University Games in China. Mizzou Golf standout Jace Long is currently second after 36 holes of play firing rounds of 68-69--137 to stand just one shot behind Japan's Hideki Matsuyama heading into Friday's third round.
Long opened the event with a 4-under-par 68 and remained consistent with his second round 69. The Dixon, Mo., native is the only golfer at the event to break 70 in both rounds and he is second alongside Korea's Young Han Song at 7-under.
Long is the top American at the event. He has Team USA in second place, eight shots back of Japan. Each team has four active members and the top three scores will be added for the day's total. Italy (423) is one shot back of the U.S.
Play continues on Friday and concludes on Saturday.
