Big 12 Championships Round 1 Team
Big 12 Championships Round 1 Individuals
Just two golfers managed to break par during the opening round of play at the 2009 Big 12 Men's Golf Championships as rainy, windy conditions drove up scores and kept players from getting too comfortable during their first tour of the par 70, 6,701-yard Prairie Dunes Golf & Country Club.
The first round was delayed one hour due to weather conditions. The Hutchinson, Kan., area was hammered with close to two inches of rainfall on Sunday/overnight, however the second round will continue this afternoon. Should the second round not be completed on Monday, the round will conclude Tuesday morning.
The University of Missouri is currently tied for 10th place with a first-round score of 310 (+30), equaling the University of Oklahoma's total. Tournament favorite Oklahoma State leads with a score of 293 (+13), two shots ahead of Texas Tech (295).
Baylor's Bill Allcorn and Kansas State's Robert Streb sit 1-2 respectively in the individual standings. Allcorn strung together 16 pars and two birdies to lead by one shot after the first 18 holes. K-State's Streb birdied both par-fives to achieve his one-under-par total.
Missouri was led by Poplar Bluff native Tyler Hillis, who shot a first-round 76 (+6). Sophomore Will Harrold was next for the Tigers with a 77 (+7).
Second round action will continue this afternoon from Prairie Dunes Golf & Country Club. Prairie Dunes is hosting the Big 12 Men's Golf Championships for the 10th time in event history.
