Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Golf to Compete in Robert Kepler Invitational Tigers close out the regular season at Ohio State event
Mizzou Golf travels to Columbus, Ohio, this week to compete in the 2014 Robert Kepler Invitational (April 12-13). This weekend's competition marks the final regular-season tournament for the Tigers as they begin postseason play at the SEC Championships (April 25-27) in two weeks.
The tournament is hosted by The Ohio State University on its par-71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course. The Tigers will once again be facing tough competition and are looking to end the 2013-14 regular-season on a high note.
Ranked No. 57 nationally, Head Coach Mark Leroux's squad will face six nationally-ranked teams, including No. 4 Georgia Tech, No.18 UAB, No. 30 Kent State, No. 32 UNLV, No. 38 Liberty and No. 47 Northwestern. Ball State, Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Ohio State, Oregon State, Penn State and Charlotte round out the 15-team tournament field.
The Tigers competed against Georgia Tech and Northwestern at the Puerto Rico Classic in February where MU tied for ninth. The Yellow Jackets finished in second and the Wildcats finished 13th.
Golfing first for the Tigers is Emilio Cuartero. The senior will be playing his final regular-season tournament of his Mizzou career. Cuartero has been the leader for the Tigers all season and has participated in every event, securing Top 25 finishes in all but one outing.
Ryan Zech will go next for Mizzou. The junior has made some impressive strides in his game as of late, tying for 12th at the Bandon Dunes Championship and 18th at the Hootie at Bulls Bay.
Euan Walker will also remain in the starting lineup. The freshman from Troon, Scotland, was the team's top finisher in his last outing in the Hootie at Bulls Bay, where he tied for 11th.
Redshirt sophomore Wilson Sundvold will shoot fourth for the Tigers. After sitting out the 2012-13 campaign, the Columbia, Mo., native has developed into a more consistent shooter, which includes a seventh-place finish at the Bandon Dunes Championship.
Freshman Linus Lilliedahl will be playing in his third tournament of the year. The Stockholm, Sweden, native joined the team in January, with his top finish coming at the Bandon Dunes Championship where he tied for 27th.
The first two rounds will be played Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Third round action begins Sunday at 8:30 a.m., with tee times off holes No. 1 and No. 10. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament on golfstat.com.
