The nationally-ranked Mizzou Golf program will host the sixth annual Columbia Orthopaedic Group Intercollegiate, April 8-9, at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo.
The 54-hole event will feature 36 holes on April 8 and the final round will be played April 9. Action both days begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
Missouri is looking for its third consecutive victory in the event and returns home after knocking off six ranked clubs at last week's Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in South Carolina.
Head Coach Mark Leroux's club is currently ranked No. 32 nationally and was the top finishing Southeastern Conference program at Bulls Bay, which included wins over No. 15 LSU, No. 21 Auburn, No. 23 Clemson, No. 26 Texas A&M, No. 32 South Carolina and No. 50 Augusta State.
Missouri is one of 12 teams in action next week joining Austin Peay, Cal Poly, Central Missouri, Columbia College, Creighton, Drake, IUPUI, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Utah Valley and Washington State.
Tiger sophomore Ryan Zech is the defending champion. The Kearney, Mo., native shot rounds of 67-70-71 to lead Missouri to its second consecutive win. Missouri also won the 2011 title, with current senior Jace Long claiming medalist honors.
Admission to the 2013 C.O.G. Intercollegiate is free to the public and fans are encouraged to bring their children (Grades K-8) out to The Club at Old Hawthorne on Saturday April 6 for a free youth clinic. That clinic runs from 3-5 p.m.
