Men's Golf Finishes 9th at Mauna Kea Classic

Kamuela, Hi. - The University of Missouri men's golf team concluded its 1999 fall season by placing ninth at the Mauna Kea Resort Invitational, held Nov. 25-26 at Hapuna Golf Club, in Kamuela, Hi.

Sophomore Mark McBride led the way individually for MU, as he tied for 11th place overall, with a three-round total of 225. That left him nine strokes off the tournament co-champions, Michael Harris of Michigan, and Shane Hoshino of Hawaii-Hilo, who tied with totals of 216.

Next up for the Tigers was senior David Suggs, who tied for 17th, just two strokes back of McBride, with a total of 227. Suggs recovered from an opening-round 80 to shoot rounds of 73 and 74.

Other Tiger competitors included sophomores Cory Ewert (T-31st -- 234), Neal Stafford (T-43rd -- 240) and freshman Shawn Fleming (T-51st -- 247).
