Columbia, Mo. -
Men's Golf shot their lowest round score by 11 strokes Sunday to finish 8th at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The Tigers (+2) shot 8-under-par on the day and advanced three places in the standings.
It was a tight race for the top three finishers in the tournament. All three teams shot within one stroke of the competitor ahead of them. Virginia (-22) pulled off the win and Virginia Tech (-21) finished in second. Kent State (-20) fell from yesterday's first place standing to finish in third.
Emilio Cuartero (-3) was the top finisher for Mizzou as he tied for 14th. The senior dropped strokes each round and has finished inside the Top 25 in every tournament this season.
Tennessee native, Hunter Kraus (-2), had his best outing of the year. The senior tied his career-best low-round score of 67 in Sunday's final round. He previously shot a 67 at the Columbia Regional Preview in September. Kraus' finish in a tie for 18th is his first Top 20 finish on the season as well as the first time he has finished below par.
Euan Walker (+4) also improved his score each round. The freshman shot a 71 on the final eighteen holes and finished tied for 40th, advancing in the standings from Saturday.
The Tigers compete in their final tournament of the 2013 fall season Nov. 3-4, when they head to Kiawah, S.C., to compete in Wendy's Kiawah Classic. For more information on Missouri Golf, follow mutigers.com and @MizzouMensGolf.
