Mizzou Golf is in a three-way tie for ninth with No. 15 Vanderbilt and No. 16 Texas A&M at the conclusion of first round action at the 2014 SEC Championship in Sea Island, Ga. The ninth-place teams shot 8-over-par during the opening round.

The conference tournament, played at Sea Island Golf Club's Seaside Course, features some of the best college golfers in the country. Top-ranked Alabama (-8) leads the competition after the first round. No. 26 Auburn (-6) is in second place, while No. 6 Georgia (-3) and No. 24 South Carolina (-3) are tied for third.

Ryan Zech (E) led the Tigers on day one. The junior competed well throughout the round, finishing the day tied for 16th.

Emilio Cuartero (+1) finished just behind Zech, tied for 21st. The senior made progress in the standings throughout the day, which he will look to continue that upward movement in Saturday's second round.

Wilson Sundvold (+3) hung around the middle of the pack throughout most of the first round. The Columbia, Mo., native is tied for 39th.

Hunter Kraus (+4) and Euan Walker (+4) are tied for 50th heading into the second round.

SEC Championship action returns at 6:30 a.m. CT Saturday morning. Live scoring can be found at golfstat.com.
