Mizzou Golf Finishes Second at Iowa

Missouri Golf finished off yet another outstanding spring effort, claiming second place at the 2011 Iowa Hawkeye-TaylorMade Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.

Originally scheduled to be a 54-hole event at the par-72 Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Missouri tied with Charlotte in the weather-shortened tournament with a two-round total of 592. The host Iowa Hawkeyes won by three shots thanks to a final round 291. Missouri defeated four Big 12 schools at the event, besting Kansas by 11 shots, Kansas State by 19, Nebraska by 20 and Iowa State by 30.

Nick Wilson was Missouri's top finisher, claiming fourth place with a 1-over-par 145. The Rocheport, Mo., native was the event leader after the first round and shot 75 on Sunday to earn the top-five showing.

Just behind Wilson was Emilio Cuartero. The talented freshman shot 71 on Sunday to tie for sixth place with a two-round 147, equaling teammate Stuart Ballingall. Ballingall was even par on Sunday after shooting 75 Saturday.

Will Harrold was Missouri's #4 scorer, shooting 79-77--156 to finish 31st overall, while Jace Long tied for 45th place with rounds of 76-81--157.

Missouri returns to action April 25-27 at the Big 12 Championship in Hutchinson, Kan.
