Columbia, Mo. -
Missouri Golf rolled to its third consecutive Columbia Orthopaedic Group Mizzou Intercollegiate crown on Tuesday, earning a 19-shot win over Austin Peay to record its sixth win of the 2012-13 season.
Windy conditions drove up scores on Tuesday, but Head Coach Mark Leroux's Tigers continued their steady play, finishing 12-under-par for the tournament and placing four scorers in the Top 12 overall. Missouri had all-five starters finish among the Top 20 and two individuals, Jacob Fair and Brad Moody, finished among the Top 10.
Emilio Cuartero and Hunter Kraus paced Mizzou finishing second overall at 4-under-par. Cuartero suffered a bogey on the final hole to finish one shot behind Austin Peay's Dustin Korte (-5) and Kraus, a native of Memphis, Tenn., worked his way into title contention with a 2-under-par 70. The second place finish by Kraus was his best of the year.
Senior Jace Long (-2) maintained his consistent play shooting rounds of 71-71-72 to finish fifth, while Ryan Zech, the 2012 C.O.G. Mizzou Intercollegiate champion, was 11th. Tommie Wuennenberg was 18th overall with rounds of 74-70-78.
Missouri's team total of 12-under-par set a new tournament record. The previous low was 8-under-par set last season. Ryan Zech of Mizzou (2012) and Kelly Kraft of SMU (2009) continue to hold the individual 54-hole low of 209.
Missouri returns to action April 19-21 at the SEC Championships. The event will be held at Sea Island, Ga.
