Tigers Lead the way at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate

Williamsburg, Va. - Missouri Men's Golf leads the C&F Bank Intercollegiate after the first round of play. The Tigers shot 2-under-par in the first round for a team score of 282. Mizzou is just two strokes ahead of UNCG (E), and three strokes separate the Tigers from Appalachian State (+1) in third place. Sophomore Emilio Cuartero and junior Jace Long lead the tournament in the first and second place spots. Cuartero's score of -5 on the round ties the tournament scoring record as well.

Cuartero started the day hitting even-par on the first seven holes. He recorded his first birdie on the eighth hole, and continued to record four more on the back nine to finish the round 5-under par. After recording a bogey on the second hole, Long recovered with a birdie on the seventh. He continued his strong performance with four consecutive birdies on the back nine for a final first-round tally of 4-under-par.

Freshman Ryan Zech had a standout first round for the Tigers as well. He currently sits in a tie for 22nd in the tournament as he finished the day just 1-over-par. Zech bogeyed the first hole of the tournament, but quickly recovered with a birdie on the third hole. He notched two birdies on the day for a score of 72.

Both Nick Wilson and Wilson Sundvold closed the first round 6-over-par with a score of 77. The two are tied for 94th in the tournament.
