Tigers Receive Big 12 Hardware
Nov. 21, 2008 COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri football team received its Big 12 North Division Championship Trophy at the beginning of practice Thursday afternoon in the Dan Devine Pavilion. The division was clinched last Saturday with a combination of Mizzou's 52-20 win at Iowa State, coupled with Texas' 35-7 win at Kansas. Mizzou Director of Athletics Mike Alden was on hand to represent Big 12 Conference Commissioner Dan Beebe and present the trophy to senior captains Chase Daniel, Ziggy Hood, William Moore and Tommy Saunders. "We wanted to get the formality of the presentation of the trophy over, obviously to get focused on KU," said Head Coach Gary Pinkel. "This is nice for our players, and I wanted to make it special because it's hard to do, it's hard to win that. We certainly want more, but I want them to be very proud of that accomplishment, and I think they are." With the title in hand, Mizzou has clinched a spot in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship, which will take place at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Dec. 6. Tickets are still on sale at ticketmaster.com. |
