TYLER, Texas - Mizzou Football senior QB James Franklin (Corinth, Texas) has been recognized as a semifinalist for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football with ties to the state of Texas. Franklin is one of 16 semifinalists from around the country and just one of three from the Southeastern Conference.

Franklin was playing as well as any quarterback in the country when he was forced to the sideline during Mizzou's 41-26 win at then-No. 7 Georgia (Oct. 12). Through the six games of 2013 Franklin played in prior to his injury, he had Mizzou's offense ranked 12th in the NCAA in total offense (515.7 ypg), eighth nationally in scoring offense (45.7 ppg) and 10th nationally in 3rd-down conversion rate (51.0 percent).

The award's criteria are also based on a player who exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
