BIRMINGHAM, Al. - Missouri senior wide receiver L'Damian Washington is the Southeastern Conference Football Community Service Team Player of the Week.

Washington is a Boys and Girls Club volunteer, a Big Brothers/Big Sisters volunteer, The Food Bank of Columbia volunteer and has been a public speaker with many youth organizations, schools, juvenile detention centers in the Columbia area. He has also worked youth football camps during his career at Mizzou. He is well-documented amongst football staffers as someone who will randomly visit area schools to check in on children he is mentoring.

Washington has already graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and was a Second Team Academic All-Big 12 pick in 2010.

Washington is having a standout year for Mizzou in his final season, setting season bests in receptions (33), yards (635) and touchdowns (8) just over halfway through the season. He caught the 40-yard, wide receiver pass for a touchdown in the fourth quarter of Mizzou's win at Georgia, a play that was featured in ESPN's Top 10 highlights. This past week against South Carolina, he snagged a post route toss from teammate Maty Mauk and covered 96 yards to the end zone, the second-longest pass play in Mizzou history.
