Sept. 15, 2005
Columbia, Mo. -
The University of Missouri and the University of Mississippi have agreed to a two-year home-and-home football series, as announced jointly by both schools today.
The two-year series will begin in 2006, with a Sept. 9th contest in Columbia, Mo., followed by a Sept. 8, 2007 date in Oxford, Miss.
Mizzou and Ole Miss have played four previous times, with the Tigers winning three of four matchups stretching from 1973 through 1979. Mizzou claimed victories in 1973 (17-0 in Columbia), 1978 (45-14 in Columbia) and 1979 (33-7 in Jackson, Miss.), while Ole Miss claimed a 10-0 shutout win in Jackson in 1974.
The Ole Miss series helps further shore up Mizzou's 2006 schedule, as the non-conference slate features a home game with Murray State (Sept. 2) and a road game at New Mexico (Sept. 16). One more non-conference game is to be added, as 2006 will begin the permanent 12-game schedule - a measure that was passed by the NCAA membership over the summer.
Here's a look at the 2006 schedule as it stands currently...
