COLUMBIA, Mo. - Friday morning featured a lighter practice for Mizzou Football as head coach Gary Pinkel prepares the team for its first fall scrimmage on Saturday. The drill sessions still included 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 periods of action as the Tigers worked on fine-tuning many of their offensive and defensive sets.

The Saturday scrimmage will afford Mizzou's coaches an excellent live look to gauge the squad's No. 1 offense against the No. 1 defense. The Tigers open the 2013 season at Faurot Field/Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 31 vs. Murray State.

"You want to see your one-offense and your one-defense get some good continuity to see where you're at," Pinkel said. "I'm really pleased with the team so far. We're working really hard and I think we're getting better. It's exciting. The days are ticking away to our first game."

Coach Pinkel noted that the scrimmage (closed to the public) would feature 45 snaps for the first, second and third teams.

"Everyone is going to play," Pinkel said. "It's going to be a long, long scrimmage, as it always is. We're looking forward to seeing where we are at."
