DALLAS, Texas - Mizzou Football junior tailback Henry Josey (Angleton, Texas), a Doak Walker Award semifinalist as a sophomore in 2011, was named to the award's 2013 watch list of preseason candidates on Thursday, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced. Josey is one of 63 candidates from across the nation up for the award given to the nation's top college running back.

Returning from a knee injury in 2011 that forced him to miss the entire 2012 season, Josey has battled back to sit atop the depth chart heading into fall drills. He rushed for 1,168 yards in 2011 despite missing the final three games of the campaign. At the time, the Tiger was leading the Big 12 Conference and ranked fifth nationally in rushing. He finished the season with First Team All-Big 12 recognition. Josey recorded nine touchdowns on the ground that year and has 14 rushing scores for his career.

The award's board of directors will name semifinalists on Nov. 14, with the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee casting votes to determine finalists that will be announced Nov. 25. A second vote by the committee beginning on Dec. 2 will determine the 2013 Doak Walker Award winner. The selection committee consists of former NFL All-Pro and college All-America running backs, media members and selected special representatives.

The 2013 Doak Walker Award winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 12 on ESPN. The Doak Walker Award Presentation Banquet will be held in Dallas, Texas, in Feb. 2014. The award, in its 24th year, is named for SMU's three-time All-America running back, Doak Walker. It is the only major collegiate award that requires all candidates to be in good academic standing and on schedule to graduate within one year of other students of the same classification.
