Columbia, Mo. -
One day after Mizzou was unanimously chosen to repeat as Big 12 Conference North Division champions, Tiger Heisman Trophy candidate Chase Daniel was today unveiled as the media pick for Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. The poll was conducted by the Big 12 Conference, and consisted of voting from media who cover the league on a regular basis. Daniel was one of seven Tigers chosen to the Preseason All-Big 12 team, including five who were part of the offensive team. Joining Daniel on the All-Big 12 squad were offensive teammates Jeremy Maclin (chosen as a WR and also as a PR), TE Chase Coffman, OL Colin Brown and PK Jeff Wolfert. A pair of standout Tiger defenders were tabbed to the defensive squad, those being pre-season All-American candidate S William Moore and LB Sean Weatherspoon. Daniel was the 2007 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and Big 12 male Athlete of the Year as a junior. He was also a finalist for the O’Brien, Walter Camp and Manning awards and was named Second Team All-America by the Associated Press, Walter Camp and Sporting News.
