Columbia, Mo. - Excitement abounds in the state of Missouri over the possibilities for the Mizzou Tiger football team in 2004, and that excitement is shared by many national prognosticators. Today, Athlon Sports has released its preseason picks for its upcoming magazine, and picks the Tigers 11th in the magazine's preseason Top 25.

Mizzou, coming off an 8-5 season a year ago, is picked to win the Big 12 North Division title, according to the magazine. Several Tiger players are mentioned as all-Big 12 performers, with QB Brad Smith, DL C.J. Mosley, DL Brian Smith and LB James Kinney all being named preseason Second-Team All-Big 12. Senior OL Joe Gianino is named preseason Third-Team All-Big 12.

Missouri's linebackers are ranked No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 9 in the nation, according to the magazine. Missouri's quarterbacks and defensive line are ranked No. 2 in the Big 12.

Magazines will hit newsstands in June. The Big 12 edition cover will feature Brad Smith.
