Tigers Finish 4th in Final A.P. Football Poll

Jan. 8, 2008

Columbia, Mo. -

The magical 2007 season for the Missouri Tiger football team was wrapped up nicely with the release of the final Associated Press top-25 this morning.  When the poll was released, Mizzou found itself ranked fourth, marking the highest-ever finish since the poll first originated in 1936.

Mizzou ended its year with a school-record 12 wins, after dismantling 25th-ranked Arkansas 38-7 in the Cotton Bowl on Jan 1st.  The win was impressive enough to vault the Tigers from seventh in the AP poll to fourth after all the games were played.

The previous high finish in the AP poll for MU was a fifth-place showing in 1960, followed closely by sixth place finishes in 1939, 1965 and 1969.  The only other top-10 final finishes for Mizzou include seventh in 1941 and ninth in 1968.
