Coaching: Corby joined his father?s staff at the University of Missouri in 1995 as a graduate assistant coach working with the Tiger defensive backs, and the following year crossed the line of scrimmage to work with the MU offense. Was elevated to full-time status in March ?97 to coach tight ends. In 2000, Smith will add special teams coordinator to the list of his coaching duties.
Player: Smith spent 1993 and ?94 as a quarterback at the University of Iowa. He transferred there after two years at Southern California. He lettered his second year at USC as a special teams player and backup quarterback and lettered once as a QB for the Hawkeyes.
Personal: Smith graduated in 1995, from the University of Iowa, with a degree in sociology. He is married to the former Jamie Jones, a graduate of the University of Arizona, where she was a four-year gymnastics letter winner and two-time team captain. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law in May. They have one son, Preston Dean (1) and are expecting their second child in December. Smith was born Dec. 1, 1972, in Ann Arbor, Mich.
