1st-Team All-Big 12 safety (Kansas City Star, Houston Chronicle) who is a team captain and emotional leader for his teammates ... Named 2nd-Team All-Big 12 by league coaches, and won the team's safety of the year award, as well as the team's Missouri Mo Spirit Award, which goes each year to the Tiger with the most spirit, enthusiasm and passion for his team and teammates ... Has been a steady, solid presence in a Tiger secondary that lost starters at 3-of-4 positions overall from the 2005 season ... Is a physical player with a knack for making plays and being in the right spot in the right time ... Ranks 3rd on the team with 89 total tackles, and is tied for 2nd on the squad with 5 passes broken up ... Recorded 40 tackles over a 3-game span against Texas A&M, Kansas State and Oklahoma ... Had a team-high 14 tackles (13 of which were solo) against Oklahoma ... Named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Kansas State when he led the way with 11 tackles and scored his first career TD on a 41-yard fumble return in the 3rd quarter to break the game open ... Earned honorable mention All-Big 12 status from both league coaches and media, and landed on the Kansas City Star's 1st-Team All-Big 12 squad ... Led Mizzou in tackles on the year, with 100 total stops ... Also had a knack for coming up with the big play, as he led the team with 5 turnovers gained, including 3 fumble recoveries and 2 interceptions ... His 3 fumble recoveries tied for 1st in the Big 12 ... Had 7 tackles in Mizzou's Independence Bowl victory, and added 1 PBU on the day ... Had double-digit tackles in 5 games on the year, including a career-high 13-tackle day against 2nd-ranked Texas early in the year ... Also had 2 TFLs and broke up 1 pass against the Longhorns ... Biggest game likely came against Nebraska, as he notched 11 tackles, broke up 2 passes, recovered a key fumble and grabbed an interception as the Tigers claimed a 41-24 win over the Huskers ... Broke up a near TD pass in the endzone to snuff out a Nebraska 1st-quarter drive, and on consecutive possessions in the 3rd quarter, he recovered a fumble on the MU 3-yardline and intercepted a pass near midfield to help MU preserve a 24-24 tie at the time ... Grabbed the 1st interception of his career in game #5 at Oklahoma State - key grab that ended a last-ditch drive by the Cowboys, as MU subsequently ran out the clock to preserve its 38-31 road win ... Made 12 tackles against New Mexico, and had 10 stops each in games against Colorado and Arkansas State ... Was credited with only 4 tackles at Kansas, but returned a fumble 19 yards in the 1st quarter that set up MU's only score of the game ... Ranked 3rd on the team with a career-best 8 passes broken up ... Was named the team's safety of the year at the annual team banquet, and also won the team's hammer award, which goes to the Tiger registering the most big hits in a season ... A hard worker off the field as well, he was awarded with MU's Total Person Program's Academic Achievement Award in the spring of 2005.
Was a solid contributor to MU's defensive improvement, as he saw significant action in all 11 games, including starts late in the year against Nebraska and Kansas, as Mizzou used more five-back alignments in those contests ... Ranked 8th on the squad with a career-high 49 tackles, and also broke up 3 passes and recorded 1 QB hurry on the season ... Was all over the field in game #10 against Kansas, as he recorded a career-best 14 tackles on the day, including 13 of the solo variety ... Other big totals included 8 tackles at Nebraska and 7 more against Ball State.
Picked things up quickly at safety after converting from quarterback in the spring ... Despite playing defense for the first time, became a solid contributor to the defense, and really came on strong to close the season ... Started each of the last 3 games, and was very good at #19 Kansas State, as he registered a career-best 12 tackles on the evening, including 11 of the solo variety ... Had 6 tackles in the regular-season finale versus Iowa State ... Ended the season with 44 tackles and 1 pass broken up ... Was named to the Columbia Daily Tribune's "All-Interview" Team, based on his quoteability ... Also earned 2nd-Team Academic All-Big 12 honors.
Redshirt season ... Spent his year getting familiar with the Mizzou system and working to get bigger, faster and stronger in the strength and conditioning program ... Was named offensive scout team player of the week for his work in preparation for Nebraska.
One of the best players out of the Dallas, Texas area who was rated as one of the top 100 players in the state of Texas ... Ranked among the top-35 dual purpose quarterbacks in the country by Rivals.com ... Earned district player of the year honors as a senior after rushing for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns, while completing 33-of-62 passes for 579 yards and five TDs ... Played in the Coca-Cola All-Star Game ... Was a first-team all-district player as a junior and tabbed a finalist for the Christian Athlete of the Year ... Rushed for 791 yards and six TDs while passing for 352 yards as a junior ... Earned district sophomore of the year honors in 1999 ... Three-year letterman in basketball and was a four-year letterwinner in track ... Was a two-time all-district selection in basketball and a two-time regional qualifier in the hurdles ... Son of David and Johnnie Overstreet ... Late father was a star back at Oklahoma and with the NFL's Miami Dolphins, mother is a phone agent ... Is majoring in art at Mizzou.
