2003 OUTLOOK
Following in the footsteps of quarterback-turned-wide receiver Justin Gage ... Came to Mizzou as a quarterback, and after 2 years behind center, made a surprisingly quick transformation into a quality wide receiver last season, despite never having played the position before in organized football ... Is a prime candidate to become MU’s go-to receiver, after the departure of the school’s alltime leading receiver in Gage ... Has great route-running abilities, likely due to his QB background, and displayed great natural instincts ... If he nets 448 receiving yards this season, he would have the distinction of being the only Tiger to have 1,000 passing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in his career.
2002 SEASON
Switched to wide receiver prior to the season, and made a remarkable transformation into a legitimate pass-catching threat, far beyond that of what Tiger coaches were hoping for ... Saw action in all 12 games at wideout, and ended up as MU’s 2nd-leading receiver with 46 catches for 552 yards and 3 TDs ... Displayed admirable toughness as he played the final 6 games of the year with a separated shoulder he suffered in the Texas Tech game ... Got the injury in the first half, and proceeded to come back in and produce a career-best 10-catches ... Caught a pass in every game except the season opener against Illinois ... Had a 3-catch, 49-yard outing the next week against Ball State, including a 27-yard TD strike from Kirk Farmer to give him his first career receiving score ... Caught fire midway through the season, as he began to get more and more comfortable at his new position ... After opening the year with 9 catches for 110 yards in the Tigers’ first 5 games combined, he racked up numbers in games 6 through 10 that read: 33 catches, 399 yards and 2 TDs ... Caught 5 passes for 71 yards at Nebraska, prior to 10-catch, 89-yard outing at Texas Tech ... Then grabbed 4 passes for 51 yards and a TD (15 yards) against Kansas, followed by a 9-catch, 103-yard outing at Iowa State ... Against ISU, took a short hitch pass from Brad Smith, and raced down the right sideline for a 55-yard TD that gave MU a 28-27 lead with 7:59 left in the 3rd quarter ... Continued his torrid stretch in week 10 with a solid 5-catch, 85-yard outing against 18th-ranked Colorado ... Completed both of his pass attempts on the year, with both going on throwback plays to Smith, one going for 31 yards and a near score at Texas Tech, with the other going for a modest 5-yard gain against Troy State ... Was named team co-offensive player of the week a team-best 7 times on the season (Ball State, Troy State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Kansas and Texas A&M).
2001 SEASON
Split time at quarterback for the second straight season with Kirk Farmer, and completed 36-of-81 passes for 296 yards and 2 TDs for the season ... Played in 10 games, starting the first two of them ... Threw for 158 yards and rushed for 50 more in the season opener against Bowling Green ... Threw for 48 yards and rushed for 13 the next week out against Southwest Texas, helping guide the Tigers to a convincing 40-6 win ... Had a 9-yard TD pass to Joe Chirumbolo to open scoring in the 3rd quarter.
2000 SEASON
Was thrust into the starter’s role behind center in game 4 after Kirk Farmer suffered a season-ending injury at Nebraska ... Started the final 7 games of the year after that, and guided the Tigers to a pair of wins against Oklahoma State and Baylor ... Ended the season completing 105-of-225 passes for 1,391 yards and 9 TDs ... Rushed for 259 yards and 5 TDs ... Led Mizzou in total offense, with an average of 165 yards per game ... Got his first collegiate start against the Cowboys, and led MU to a 24-10 win in which he ran for a TD and threw for 191 yards and a score ... His first career completion was a 5-yard TD pass to Tay Jackson ... Turned in an outstanding effort at Baylor as the Tigers gained a 47-22 win in Waco ... Threw for 2 TDs (both to Justin Gage) and completed 16-of-28 passes for 199 yards while rushing for 48 yards and one TD ... Completed 17-of-34 passes for a career-best 246 yards in a 28-18 loss to Colorado ... Rushed for a career-high 107 yards on 18 carries against Iowa State ... Played in 10 games overall, with his first collegiate playing time coming in the home opener against Western Illinois.
1999 SEASON
