Chris Morton joins the Mizzou Football coaching staff for his first season, in the role of administrative graduate assistant. Morton has spent the previous two years with Mizzou Athletics, as a compliance coordinator, from July, 2009, until joining the football staff in June, 2011. In his current role, Morton is responsible for assisting the Tiger coaching staff with various recruiting administrative duties throughout the year, as well as lending a hand with scouting and game preparation efforts, among other responsibilities.
A native of Norfolk, Neb., Morton was a standout center in college at the University of South Dakota, where he won the 2006 Rimington Award for Division II, given annually to the best center in the nation. He was also a finalist in 2006 for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award. Morton claimed All-American and All-Conference honors during his time at USD before earning his accounting degree in 2007. After his college days, Morton put his degree to work, as he served for 10 months as an auditor for the Missouri Attorney General's office before joining the MU Athletic Compliance Office in 2009.
Prior to college, Morton was a star three-sport athlete at Norfolk High School, where he was an all-conference performer on the gridiron. He also lettered in basketball and track.
Morton is pursuing a master's degree in health education and promotion. He is married to the former Carla Neppl, a native of Omaha, Neb. who is an academic intern with Mizzou Athletics' Total Person Program.
