In his second season on the Mizzou Football coaching staff is Defensive Graduate Assistant Tyler McSparin. The Kansas City, Mo. native joined Mizzou prior to the 2010 season and served as the administrative graduate assistant, where he helped with various recruiting, scouting and game preparation duties. In his newest role, he'll specialize in assisting the defensive staff with scouting, film study and game preparation as well as other responsibilities.

McSparin is graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. At Wash U., he was a two-time 1st-Team All-Conference linebacker for the Bears before graduating in 2008. Following graduation, McSparin joined the coaching staff at Lindenwood University, where he served as the defensive graduate assistant for the 2008 season, and as the inside linebackers coach for the 2009 season. While at Lindenwood, he earned a master of arts in education. Prior to college, he was a two-sport letterwinner in both football and baseball at Park Hill High School in Kansas City.

McSparin is pursuing a master's degree from Mizzou in educational and counseling psychology, and is on pace to receive his degree in May of 2012. He is married to the former Jamie Crist.
