2003 OUTLOOK
An honorable mention all-Big 12 kicker a year ago who gives Mizzou a dependable scoring weapon ... One more year of steady progress with his accuracy and technique could make him one of the top kickers in the Big 12 ... The possessor of a strong leg, who has kicked a 55-yarder inside the Dan Devine Pavilion indoor practice facility ... Was arguably the the most valuable addition to the squad last year, when he walked on to the team after spending 3 years out of football ... Was a standout prep kicker for hometown Rock Bridge, and missed playing football, which prompted him to join the team.
2002 SEASON
Was a pleasant addition to the squad who emerged as MUs top kicker ... Proved to be a very dependable kicker who went on to make 9-of-13 field goals on the season, and 40-of-42 extra points ... Finished just 3 made PATs shy of the school record of 43 set by Scott Knickman in 1997 ... His 67 points ranked 2nd on the team, and were also just 11 shy of Knickmans single-season kicking record of 76 points (43 PATs, 11 FGs) set in 1997 ... Did not play in the season opener vs. Illinois, but won the job in practice the next week after Mizzou missed 3 kicks (including 2 that were blocked) in the game ... Missed his first collegiate attempt (42 yards) against Ball State, but came back in week 4 to nail a perfect 3-of-3 (28, 26 and 35 yards) against Troy State ... Went 2-of-3 on field goals at Texas A&M, but came through with a clutch 40-yarder in the 1st overtime that gave MU a 27-24 lead ... Nailed a 38-yarder in the 3rd quarter vs. 3rd-ranked Oklahoma that pulled MU to within 23-17 ... Was perfect in 9 total kicks during back-to-back games vs. Nebraska and Texas Tech ... Made all 3 kicks at NU (2 FGs and 1 PAT), including a 22-yarder in the 1st quarter against a stiff breeze to give MU a 10-7 lead ... Later followed with a career-long 44-yarder to give the Tigers a 13-7 advantage ... The next week saw him go a perfect 5-of-5 in PATs and connect on a 44-yard field goal at Texas Tech ... Only PAT misses came in first game against Ball State, and later against Kansas ... Proved unafraid to stick his neck into a play on special teams, as he registered 2 tackles on the year.
JUNIOR COLLEGE
Was a first-team all-conference kicker and second-team all-conference punter as a freshman at Westminster College ... Made 54-of-56 extra points and 1-of-2 field goal tries.
HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Columbia Rock Bridge High School, where he was a standout kicker as a senior ... Earned first-team all-conference and first-team all-district honors as a kicker and second-team all-conference honors as a punter ... Went 5-of-6 in field goals and 15-of-16 in extra points ... High school coach Jeff Moore ... A multi-sport standout who lettered in tennis (4 years) and cross country (2) and added soccer and football to his resume as a senior ... Placed 9th in the state tennis championships as a junior.
