Has the 4th-highest tackles per game average in the nation over the last two years (11.68 in 25 games) ... His teammates responded to his pleas and shut out the Huskers in the final period, and MU outscored Nebraska 27-0 in the 4th quarter and went on to its 41-24 win - breaking a 24-game losing streak to the Huskers ... Played a critical role on the field in that game, too, as he had 12 tackles, including a season-high 3 TFLs (16 yards), forced 2 fumbles and recovered a 3rd ... His sole sack of the year came in that game, as well, and it was a big one ... Had a season-high 19 tackles at Kansas, and had games of 16 tackles each versus Texas A&M and Middle Tennessee State ... Had 9 stops versus Texas Tech, and grabbed an interception that he returned 21 yards against Tech's B.J. Symons to set up a Tiger field goal that made it 27-3 at the time.
Blossomed into one of the Big 12's best linebackers ... Earned 1st-Team All-Big 12 honors by College Football News, and was named to Big 12 honorable mention team by the Associated Press ... Led Mizzou, and ranked 2nd in the Big 12, with an average of 12.3 tackles per game ... That total ranked him 9th in the NCAA ... The first of his season came in the opener against Illinois, and proved to be a turning point in the game when he zipped 46 yards untouched for a TD that broke a 14-14 tie with 5:31 left in the 3rd quarter ... Also intercepted one pass that he returned 14 yards for a TD against Troy State ... Had 10 tackles, including one sack, in addition to the score vs. Illinois ... Followed with what was then a career-high 17-tackle performance in week 2 vs. Ball State ... Notched 11 tackles and 2 sacks in game 5 as Mizzou narrowly missed out on an upset of eventual BCS participant Oklahoma ... Later had a career-high 19 tackles at Texas Tech ... Also recorded one sack, recovered a fumble and broke up a pass as one of the bright spots on the defensive side of the ball that night in Lubbock ... Came off the bench in week 11 at Texas A&M, but returned to the starting lineup against Kansas State, and registered 15 tackles (with one TFL) in the season finale ... Earned the team's Big Hit Award for a blow delivered in week 4 against Troy State ... Named team co-defensive player of the week for performances against Illinois, Ball State and Troy State ... Despite being a sophomore in standing, was named as one of 4 team captains by his teammates just prior to the season.
