2010 SPRING OUTLOOK Died-in-the-wool Tiger who looks to increase his contributions in the offense after having off-season surgery to clean up a shoulder injury which hampered his production in 2009 ... Had the surgery done right after the season ended, and he'll be forced to sit out spring drills, but he'll be 100 percent healthy by the time fall camp rolls around in August ... Is a gritty performer with outstanding hands and a "get-it-done" attitude who is a solid downfield blocker, as well ... Is a standout in the classroom as well, as he was named a 2nd-Team Academic All-Big 12 performer in 2009 for his efforts.
2009 SEASON Had the challenging task of following All-American tight ends Martin Rucker and Chase Coffman, and he was MU's primary weapon during the season from the tight end spot, where he caught 8 passes for 43 yards in 13 games, which included 8 starts overall ... Production was down from his freshman season, largely due to the emergence of Danario Alexander as the go-to guy in the passing game, but a shoulder injury suffered early in the year also factored in ... Caught 3 passes in the season opener against Illinois, going for 17 yards, and followed with 2 more receptions for 6 yards in game #2 against Bowling Green.
2008 SEASON Highly-touted true freshman who burned his redshirt right away and gave significant contributions at tight end while serving as primary understudy to eventual John Mackey Award winner and consensus 1st-Team All-American Chase Coffman ... Saw action in all 14 games, and ended with 20 receptions for 146 yards on the season ... His ability to earn playing time early on came in handy later in the season when Coffman was forced to miss two games in November with a foot injury, as Jones proved crucial in Mizzou's North Division clinching win at Iowa State, as he caught a career-high 7 passes for 61 yards on the night ... Caught at least one pass in 11-of-14 games, and caught 2 passes each against Kansas State, Buffalo and Southeast Missouri State ...
