2009 OUTLOOK

The largest physical specimen on the Tiger roster, who towers over most everyone at 6-foot-7 inches and 315 pounds, and is looking to establish himself as a mainstay on the offensive line for a long time to come ... Earned playing time in 2008 as a true freshman, and gained valuable experience, which should suit him well for the 2009 season, when he is expected to challenge for the starting position at right tackle ... Begins fall drills listed No. 1 on the depth chart at that position, where he will look to replace two-year starter Colin Brown, who was a fifth-round draft pick in 2009 by the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs ... Had a meniscus tear in his right knee cleaned up during the off-season, but that didn't limit him much during spring camp ... Was impressive enough during spring ball to take home the team's Most Improved Offensive Lineman award at the spring game.

2008 SEASON

Didn't take long to show that he was ready to contribute as a true freshman, as he was one of the first rookies to see the field ... Saw action in all 14 games, getting most of his time as part of the special teams kicking protection unit, but got more and more action on offense as the year progressed.

High School

Helped his school win a 3A state championship on the gridiron as a first-year starter at left tackle in 2005 ... Playing defensive tackle, registered 65 tackles, 17 TFLs and 5 QB sacks as a senior in 2007, while adding 64 stops, 15 TFLs and 3 QB sacks as a junior in 2006 ... Outstanding all-around athlete who is a three-year letterman in football, basketball and baseball and track and field ... Played on basketball team which won the Iowa state 3A championship in 2005 and took 3rd in 2006 ... Was a 2nd-Team All-State selection in basketball as a junior ...
