2012 Spring Camp Gets Underway as Tigers Prepare for SEC


Outstanding overall athlete who comes from an athletic family, and played offensive tackle and defensive end for Branson High School ... Was forced to miss spring ball as he recovered from a health scare that popped up during bowl practice season last December, when he had blood clots develop in his arm, in a situation very similar to former Tiger Andrew Gachkar ... Had surgery to correct the issue, but had to sit out the spring in order to regain his strength, in hopes of being ready to go in the fall ... Decided in the summer that it was in his best interests to no longer play football, but he remains heavily involved in the program, and will serve as a student assistant going forward.


Saw action in reserve duty in six games on the season...


Continued his development in the Tiger program, and saw action in reserve duty in a pair of games, seeing the field against Miami (Ohio) and against rival Kansas ... Spent the year listed as No. 2 on the depth chart at the left tackle spot, behind All-Big 12 performer Elvis Fisher.


Was able to gain a redshirt year to fully rehabilitate an Achilles' tendon injury that he sustained in his final year of high school ... Began practicing toward the end of the season, and showed he's got a chance to be a contributor in the future.


Rated by as the No. 18 overall prospect (any position) out of the state of Missouri ... Helped lead Branson to the playoffs for the first time in 13 years as a senior in 2008 ... Was named 2nd-Team All-State as an offensive lineman, and also took home 1st-Team All-District and All-Conference honors there, as well ... Won honorable mention All-District acclaim and was 1st-Team All-Area as a defensive end in 2007 ... For his career on defense, registered 102 total tackles and 14 tackles for loss ... Also a standout track and field athlete for his school who is the school record-holder in the discus event ... High school coach - Steve Hancock.
