2003 OUTLOOK
The most experienced defensive back on the squad who will give the Tigers a solid presence in the secondary ... A strong cover man with excellent speed and a fearless attitude ... With 16 career starts, has the most starts of any Tiger defender at any position ... Has added 10 pounds to his frame, and now carries 190 pounds, up from his listed weight of 180 last season ... Is a former walk-on who worked his way to a scholarship following the 2000 season.
2002 SEASON
Became Mizzou’s most consistent performer in the secondary in his second year as a starter ... Was named the team’s defensive back of the year after leading MU, and ranking 3rd in the Big 12 with 15 passes broken up ... Grabbed 2 interceptions, and forced a fumble on the year, in addition to his 59 tackles that ranked 7th on the MU squad ... Came off the bench in the opener vs. Illinois, but after breaking up 3 passes, moved into the starting lineup, and stayed there the rest of the season ... Made his biggest play of the year at Texas A&M when he picked off an Aggie pass at the goal line in the 2nd overtime period ... His interception set the stage for MU’s offense, which went in on the ensuing possession to give Missouri its first-ever win over A&M ... His other interception was a diving grab near the goalline at Bowling Green ... Broke up 3 passes in a game 3 different times (Illinois, at Texas Tech and at Texas A&M) ... Earned team defensive player of the week honors for performances against Illinois, Nebraska and Kansas ... Ended the season by making a career-high 12 tackles (including 11 unassisted) against Kansas State ... Averaged 9.7 tackles per game in the last 3 contests (8 vs. CU, 9 at A&M and 12 vs. KSU).
2001 SEASON
Played in all 11 games and started 4 ... Made 20 tackles on the season ... Also played a major role on the Tigers’ special teams units ... Played very well in the season opener against Bowling Green, collecting five tackles and a pass break-up ... Blocked a punt against Southwest Texas that was scooped up by Justin Gage and returned for a touchdown ... Was in on four tackles against Texas.
2000 SEASON
Went from a walk-on to a starting cornerback by the end of the season ... first came into the program in the spring of 2000 ... Made a great impression early in the fall and played on special teams by the middle of the season ... Made his first career start against Kansas State in the season finale and played his best game against All-American wide receiver Quincy Morgan ... Held Morgan to just four catches for 35 yards on the day.
HIGH SCHOOL
Two-time all-conference and all-district selection at Southeast High School ... Was the team MVP in 1999 and co-MVP in 1998 ... Intercepted 14 passes in his career and returned three for touchdowns ... A track star who was a state qualifier his junior and senior campaigns ...
