2009 OUTLOOK Highly-skilled and physically gifted quarterback who is the favorite to win the job of replacing record-setting quarterback Chase Daniel, as he is the only Tiger quarterback on the roster with collegiate experience, having played in five games as a true freshman in 2008 ... Made big strides during spring ball, and was very good in the major scrimmages during camp ... Ended spring by completing 9-of-17 passes for 93 yards in the Black & Gold Game, and was named the team's Most Improved Offensive Back for his efforts ... In his short time on campus, has shown that he's got the confidence, leadership, mental makeup and work habits to step in and continue Mizzou's outstanding quarterback play they've enjoyed from 2002-08 with Brad Smith and Daniel ... Has the height, arm and field presence to make all the throws, and is a very impressive pocket passer with excellent accuracy ... Is also deceptively fast when getting outside of the pocket, and he has the size to see the entire field well.
2008 SEASON Came in and quickly established himself on the depth chart, and earned playing time as a true freshman signal caller ... Saw action in 5 games in reserve duty, and showed good promise in his limited time behind center ... Led the Tiger offense to a touchdown against Colorado and a field goal against Nevada, and his final numbers included 5-of-13 passing for 43 yards, to go with 6 rushes for 22 yards ... Had a 30-yard scamper that showed his underrated running ability against Southeast Missouri State ... Also completed 3-of-8 passes for 27 yards in that game, which was his first collegiate appearance ... Also completed one pass each in games against Nevada and Kansas State.
Gained all those accolades, and many more, despite playing in only 5 games as a senior, as he began the year hobbled with an injured foot, and once past that setback, was lost for the season with a shoulder injury soon after ... Injuries limited his statistics to 623 passing yards and 5 TDs as a senior in 4 games, after he posted impressive figures of 1,523 yards and 20 TDs (on 119-of-231 passing) as a junior, as he also added another 458 yards rushing and 8 TDs ... Threw for approximately 1,100 yards and 11 TDs as a first-year starter during his sophomore season of 2005 ... Has the height, arm and field presence to make all the throws, and is a very impressive pocket passer with excellent accuracy ... Is also deceptively fast when getting outside of the pocket ... After his commitment to Mizzou during the fall, he became an additional recruiter for the Tigers, and along with fellow signee Andrew Jones, did a lot of work to champion Mizzou's cause to his friends ...
