Won all-league honors in 2007 in his first year as a starter, and should again challenge to be one of the best tackles in the talent-rich Big 12 Conference in 2008 ... Enters fall camp listed at No. 1 on the depth chart at right tackle ... Found his way to Mizzou to play football after initially considering his opportunities in the sport of basketball, where he was an all-state center in high school.
2007 OUTLOOK Man mountain who has come into his own in his first year as a starter in 2007, after initially joining the program in 2004 as a walk-on ... Has started all 13 games for the Tigers this year, and played well enough to merit honorable mention All-Big 12 status from league coaches ... Also was awarded the team's J. Ed "Brick" Travis Interior Lineman Award for his outstanding play at right tackle ... Moved to right tackle, where he won the starting job in fall camp, after beginning camp backing up returning starter Tyler Luellen at left tackle initially ... Participated in spring drills in 2007 despite an injured shoulder, and had it fixed at the conclusion of spring drills in time to be 100 percent once fall camp opened up ... Originally intended to play basketball in college, as he was an accomplished center in high school, but when the right offers didn't come, he decided to walk-on at Mizzou to play football.
2006 SEASON Made important contributions in all 13 games as a regular on MU's place-kicking special teams units, and saw some reserve action at left guard, where he spent most of the season listed as No. 2 on the depth chart ... Played during the spring at tackle as well.
2005 SEASON Former walk-on who was awarded with a scholarship prior to the season, and saw action in 2 games in 2005 ... Spent most of the year listed No. 2 on the depth chart at center ... Played in games #1 (Arkansas State) and #3 (Troy).
2004 SEASON Redshirt season ... Joined the team prior to fall camp as a walk-on.
HIGH SCHOOL Lettered in four sports at Braymer High School, and was an all-state performer in basketball twice (2003 & 2004), as well as being a McDonald's All-American nominee on the hardcourt ... Was a First-Team All-State selection on the gridiron as a defensive tackle as a senior in 2003, and also earned First-Team All-Conference honors at both defensive tackle and tight end the same year ... Was a star for Braymer in basketball, and averaged 18.5 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks per game as a senior in 2004, as he led his team to a 26-3 record and state quarterfinal appearance ... Won 11 letters in his high school days, including four in basketball, three each in football and track, and one in baseball ... High school coach - Troy Stemburger.
