2003 OUTLOOK
Powerful lineman who will be back for a second year in the program, after walking on prior to last season ... Did not play football at MU until last year, despite a standout prep career at Jefferson City High School ... Chose instead to focus on track career, and for good reason ... Prior to 2003 track season, was a 3-time All-American in the discus, hammer and weight throws ... Is going to split time between track and football during the spring season.
2002 SEASON
Walked on to football squad and was a welcomed gift who picked things up quickly and made quite an impact ... Despite not playing since his senior year in high school, saw action in all 12 games on the defensive line, and made 7 starts at tackle ... Ended the season with 36 tackles and ranked 4th on the squad with 8 tackles for loss ... Also was 4th on the team with 3 sacks ... Registered 3 passes broken up and 2 QB hurries, as well ... Had best performance of season at Nebraska, where he totaled a career-high 8 tackles, and added one tackle for a loss and one QB hurry ... Earned team defensive player of the week honors for that outing ... Ended the season with 3 tackle performance against Kansas State, with all 3 going for losses ... Turned in 5 stops apiece in games vs. Troy State and Kansas ... Had 4 stops vs. Oklahoma, including a sack for 5 yards ... Against Iowa State, made 3 stops, and broke up a career-high 2 passes on the day ... Made 1st career start in game 4 vs. Troy State, and started the following 6 games after that.
HIGH SCHOOL
Played for renowned Jefferson City football program, where he was a star on both sides of the ball for Jay teams that won a Class 5A state title (1997), and finished second (1998) and third (1996) ... Named first-team All-State as a senior offensive lineman, and was an all-district pick at both offensive line and defensive line each of his last two years ... Came to Missouri on a track scholarship, as he was one of the nations most accomplished prep throwers ... Won four state championships, with three coming in the discus (1997-98-99) and one other in the shot put (1999) ... Also placed second in the state as a junior in the shot put, and helped his team place second twice (1997 & 1999) and third one time (1998) ... Named Jefferson City High School Athlete of the Year in 1999 ... Lettered in basketball two years ... Member of National Honor Society and Whos Who In American High Schools.
