Athletic big man who has good game time experience under his belt, after playing in six games last season as a redshirt freshman primarily at the center position ... Continued at center during the spring season, but also began working at guard, and that's where he begins fall camp on the depth chart, listed at No. 2 at right guard behind honors candidate Kurtis Gregory.


Served as primary backup at center, and saw action in six games during his first season on the field ... Played against Southeast Missouri State and Nevada during the non-conference season, and got playing time in four Big 12 games, against Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas State and Iowa State ... Suffered a shoulder injury (labrum) during spring drills that he played with and had fixed in April.

Redshirted in his first season in the program, working as part of the practice squad.

Ranked as the No. 16 center in the nation by Rivals, as well as the No. 23 player (all positions) in the state of Tennessee ... Same outlet also rated him as the state's No. 1 interior offensive lineman ... Earned 1st-Team All-State honors by both the media and coaches in 2006 ... Team captain who won his school's most outstanding offensive lineman award in 2006 as a senior, and was also a finalist for Tennessee's Mr. Football yearly award ... Selected as a Dream Team member by the Nashville Tennessean ... High school coach - James Counce.
