2003 OUTLOOK
Hard-hitting, athletic talent who will shift to linebacker after playing safety a year ago ... Will be playing on the defensive side of the ball for the second season, and should continue to develop into a solid contributor, as his comfort level and knowledge of the system grows.
2002 SEASON
Played defense for the first time as a Tiger, and showed good skill at his free safety position ... Started 5 games toward the latter part of the season as his play escalated ... Ended the year eighth on the team with 54 tackles in 12 games ... Had 47 unassisted stops, including one for a loss ... Also recovered 2 fumbles, forced one and broke up one pass ... Grabbed his first career interception vs. Ball State, and returned it 25 yards ... Had a break-out performance against Ball State, with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery in addition to the INT ... Was named team defensive MVP for his efforts ... Later earned his first career start at Nebraska, and notched a career-high 14 tackles (12 solo), one TFL, one fumble recovery and one pass broken up in a standout game ... His fumble recovery came on NU’s first offensive play, and led to Mizzou taking a 7-0 lead ... Earned the team defensive MVP award for his play that week ... Had consecutive games with 7 tackles apiece vs. Kansas and at Iowa State ... Earned the team “Big Hit” award against ISU ... Had 4 tackles and a forced fumble in MU’s overtime game vs. Colorado.
2001 SEASON
Appeared in every game on special teams and at wide receiver ... After the season, made the move to defense, the side of the football that he flourished in high school ... Was voted the “Most Improved” defensive back in the spring.
2000 SEASON
Was expected to be a major factor at wide receiver before being lost for the season with a broken ankle in game two at Clemson ... Had one catch in the Clemson game for 16 yards before being injured on special teams ... Started his first career game against Western Illinois.
1999 SEASON
Redshirt year ... Was twice named offensive scout-team “Player of the Week.”
HIGH SCHOOL
Two-way player who earned more accolades for his defense than his offense ... Second team all-state defensive back after tallying 70 tackles ... Caught 24 passes for 410 yards and 4 TDs ... Averaged 39.4 yards per kick return and scored two touchdowns ... All-conference and all-district basketball player as well ... Coached by Charlie Vickery.
