Mizzou Director of Athletics Mike Alden and Head Basketball Coach Frank Haith traveled Mid-Missouri on Friday as the pair met with Tiger fans in Mexico, Mo., in advance of Saturday's home football opener at Faurot Field.

It was a busy afternoon for Haith and Alden as the pair made stops in Audrain County, including lunch at the Rotary Club in Mexico.

"It was a great trip," Haith said. "This is Tiger Country. You have a chance to talk with folks that have so many great memories of Mizzou and it drives you. Again, not every program has this type of support. This is a special place and you can feel the passion for what is taking place here."

Friday's trip was just part of a busy few days for the first-year head coach. Late last week Haith and Alden spent time in St. Louis with several former Tiger Basketball players and current Tiger Scholarship Fund members at the Cardinals game. He also met with students on campus outside the Wheatstone Bistro talking about the highly-anticipated 2011-12 season.

"It's a lot of fun getting out amongst our students to talk about our program," Haith said. "We have a great group of seniors coming back and there is a lot of excitement about this program. The student support here is amongst the best in America."
