Paris, France -
Missouri Basketball has arrived in Paris. The Tigers left Gent, Belgium, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning and traveled nearly four hours before arriving in the capital of France.
The team arrived shortly after 3 p.m. and had a chance to check into the hotel before spending three to four hours touring the area. Many on the travel party headed immediately to Avenue des Champs-Élysées for some window shopping and sightseeing.
The avenue is most easily described as France's version of Rodeo Drive with high-end shops such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Lacoste and much, much more. Of course one of the more popular sites was the Nike Store, which was loaded with Olympic Games merchandise, including plenty of gear for the fans of Team USA.
The team is staying at the Concorde Opera Paris, which has a convenient location to many shops and restaurants. Just down the road are the Arc De Triomphe Etoile, the Louvre, the Madeleine and the de la Concorde. The team has a night tour scheduled Thursday evening, which should give us a quick history lesson on these incredible structures and fountains.
Also in our hotel is the Duke women's basketball team, who is touring Europe. We also saw Virginia out and about today. The Cavaliers are finishing up their European tour and also had stops in the Netherlands and Belgium before France.
Tonight the team will be on its own for dinner. The squad just finished up a quick team meeting and has a couple more hours to eat and explore before curfew.
Wake up call tomorrow is around 9 a.m. and tours will begin shortly after break.
Missouri will be back in action on Friday night against Cergy. The game is currently scheduled for 7 p.m. local time.
