Former Mizzou Basketball star Kim English has been back in Missouri this summer working out and hosting camps throughout the state, but on Monday the current Detroit Pistons player took time out of his workout regimen to read with children at the R.G. Combs Language Preschool in Columbia, Mo.

The visit certainly wasn't English's first to the preschool as he stopped by to read to the children during his playing days as a Tiger (2008-12).

"I want to applaud the teachers at R.G. Combs because of all the great work they are doing," English said. "Communication is so important in everything we do and the enthusiasm those children have to improve every day is really inspiring on a number of levels."

English of course battled a stutter during his days growing up in Baltimore and has become an inspirational example of someone that has used techniques, like those taught at the school, to become more confident in his speaking ability through time.

"It's a long process, but each of those children will get there," English said. "You have good days, bad days, good interviews and bad interviews, but you keep moving forward and the encouragement and instruction those young people receive each day is making a big difference."
