Columbia, Mo. - With seven newcomers and five returning starters, Missouri Basketball is getting a jump start on what should be an exciting 2008-09 season, as Head Coach Mike Anderson announced that his team will participate in a three-game Canadian Tour over Labor Day weekend in Ontario, Canada.

Missouri will have exhibition games Aug. 30-Sept. 1, with two games being played in St. Catharines, Ontario, at Brock University, and a third game scheduled for Toronto. Tour organizers are still finalizing opponents for Missouri's games on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1, but the Tigers will face Brock University at 4 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, Aug. 31. Brock University is the defending Canadian National Champions, after defeating Acadia University 64-61 in the national title game last March.

"This will be a great experience for all of our young guys as well as our upper classman," Head Coach Mike Anderson said. "Besides the obvious game experience, we'll have a chance to evaluate players and build camaraderie on this team. We'll have a chance to practice seven days in advance of the trip, so we can work on some things that will not only help us for the tour, but get us ready for the official start of practice in October."

The Tigers will depart for Canada on Aug. 29 out of St. Louis' Lambert Airport and will arrive that night in Buffalo, N.Y. The team will then bus to Niagara Falls where they will check into their hotel. The team will tour Niagara Falls the next morning before playing their opening game that afternoon at 5:30 p.m. (EST).

On Sunday, Aug. 31, the Tigers will take a Maid of the Mist tour and have time for site-seeing before facing Brock University that day at 4 p.m.

Missouri's final game is slated for 10 a.m. (EST) on Monday and the team will depart Buffalo for St. Louis later that afternoon to return home.

This is Missouri Basketball's first foreign trip since Norm Stewart led his Tigers to Australia in May of 1995.
