Columbia, MO - University of Missouri Head Basketball Coach Quin Snyder announced on Friday that DeAndre Thomas has signed a letter of intent and will join the Tigers in the fall.

Thomas, a 6-8, 270-pound center/power forward from Westinghouse High School in Chicago, was considered to be one of the top post prep prospects yet to sign before Friday when he inked with the Tigers. The talented big man averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocks per game during his senior season at Westinghouse and is listed as the No. 40 power forward in the country according to Rivals.com. He was the Illinois Class AA and Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year in 2004-05. Thomas is an imposing figure in the low post, has solid ball skills and is a powerful presence around the rim.

"DeAndre will be a great addition to our family here at Mizzou and we are excited that he has decided to become a Tiger," Coach Snyder said. "He is a quality young man that plays with heart and passion and he possesses excellent finishing ability around the rim. He comes from a solid program at Westinghouse and Coach (Quitman) Dillard has done a terrific job developing DeAndre's skills."

Thomas chose Mizzou over Kansas, Illinois, Georgetown and Florida State. For more information on Mizzou Tiger Basketball, log on to www.mutigers.com.
