May 2, 2008

Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri standout DeMarre Carroll was named one of the nation's Top 10 transfers for the 2007-08 men's basketball campaign by Rivals.com on Friday.

Named the Big 12 Conference's Newcomer of the Year by the league's coaches and media, Carroll paced the Tigers with 6.7 rebounds per game and ranked second with 13.0 points. Noted for his rugged play in the paint, the Birmingham, Ala., ranked among league leaders in a number of statistical categories, finishing fourth in field goal percentage (.536), seventh in double-doubles (four), ninth in rebounding and 17th in scoring.

Carroll led Missouri with 22 double-figure scoring games as a junior, which included a career high 26 points in a double-overtime win against Iowa State. The 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward also proved to be an outstanding all-around threat, finishing second on the club with 36 steals, while tying for the team lead with 21 blocked shots.

A junior eligibility-wise, Carroll will graduate from Missouri in May, making him one of seven Tigers finishing their undergraduate coursework this year. Carroll will be joined by seniors Marshall Brown, Darryl Butterfield, Kalen Grimes, Jason Horton, Vaidotas Volkus and Michael Anderson, Jr. as 2008 graduates of Mizzou.
