Columbia, Mo. - Alex Oriakhi was named the SEC Player of the Week on March 4 after leading Missouri to wins over South Carolina and LSU.

The Lowell, Mass., native was near perfect from the floor in the two wins, hitting 15-of-17 shots (.882) while averaging 18.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots per game.

Oriakhi recorded his 10th double-double of the season in the win against LSU, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 boards. It's the most double-doubles for a Tiger since Linas Kleiza grabbed 10 in 2004-05.

With his 10 rebounds Oriakhi is nearing the 1,000 rebound milestone. He has 996 in his career and needs just four on Tuesday vs. Arkansas to reach that feat. Only Arthur Johnson (1,093) and Doug Smith (1,053) have grabbed 1,000 career rebounds as Missouri Tigers.

Oriakhi also blocked four shots vs. LSU and is now in the Top 10 in a single season at Mizzou. Oriakhi has 47 blocks this year, ninth all time.

The senior opened the week a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the foul line vs. South Carolina. He scored 18 points against the Gamecocks and did not miss a shot in two meetings vs. USC.

In Missouri's two wins vs. Frank Martin's crew Oriakhi was a combined 10-of-10 from the floor and 16-of-16 from the charity stripe, averaging 18.0 points per game.
