Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou vs SIU-Edwardsville Game Notes

Mizzou opened its 107th season of basketball with an 83-69 win over SIUE. The victory pushed the series to 2-0 all-time in favor of the Tigers. Missouri won the only other meeting (107-57) during the 2008-09 season.

Mizzou is now 85-21 all time in season openers and 90-15 in home openers. Mizzou is 39-1 in their last 40 season openers.

Mizzou has now won 66 straight home non-conference games. The last non-conference home loss was vs. Sam Houston St. in the 2005 preseason NIT, the 2005-06 season opener.

Laurence Bowers made his return to the court and led the Tigers with 20 points and seven boards. The senior hit 9-of-14 shots and topped the 20-point plateau for the fifth time in his career. He topped 20 points three times as a junior in 2010-11 and once as a sophomore, scoring a career high 23 vs. Georgia.

Phil Pressey narrowly missed a double-double with 19 points and nine assists. Pressey finished 7-of-12 from the floor and committed just two turnovers compared to the nine dimes. Pressey has topped double figures in scoring in four consecutive games dating back to last season and is averaging 19.3 points during that stretch. He is also shooting 60 percent from the floor and has hit 12-of-17 treys (.706).

Alex Oriakhi grabbed a game high 15 rebounds. He was the first Tiger with 15 boards in a game since Ricardo Ratliffe grabbed 15 on March 3, 2012, at Texas Tech.

Tony Criswell's 10 rebounds tied a career high. He also grabbed 10 boards while a redshirt freshman at UAB vs. Houston on Feb. 26, 2011.

Missouri grabbed 50 rebounds and enjoyed a +10 margin (50-40) on the glass vs. SIUE. The 50 boards were the most since the Tigers grabbed 61 vs. Iowa State on Jan. 22, 2011.

Missouri topped 20 assists in the win. The Tigers last topped 20 dimes vs. Oklahoma State in last year's Big 12 Championship (22) in Kansas City, Mo.

Negus Webster-Chan continues to play well in his rookie campaign, scoring 11 points, dishing four assists and ripping three steals in 34 minutes. Webster-Chan scored nine of those 11 points in the opening half on 3-of-4 three-point shooting.

Stefan Jankovic's first career collegiate bucket was three pointer where he was fouled and converted the four-point play. Matt Pressey had a four-point play last season for the Tigers as well.
