Missouri Head Coach Frank Haith:

On finding a way to win...
"Obviously it was not a pretty basketball game, but I thought our guys really competed and with the way that South Carolina played - you just had to know it was going to be that kind of game. South Carolina was physical and aggressive, but we were able to get to the free throw line and I'm proud of our execution late in the game. I'm proud of our guys."

On Senior forward Alex Oriakhi......
"We really challenged Alex after the Florida game and he deserves a lot of credit for the way he responded tonight. He played really big."

On the two three pointers late in the game that sealed the 71-65 win....
"It was great execution and you have to knock those shots down. "EJ" (Earnest Ross) hit a big one and then finding Jabari (Brown) - it was just great execution. Those guys made some big shots in some big moments."

On managing Pressey's foul situation in the game's late stages....
"I think we managed that part of the game very, very well. Without Keion Bell, it was something we had to do since we were down a ball handler. We just had to find a way, and Negus gave us some great minutes in that time."

On the Tiger's first half struggles....
"I thought we settled a lot in the first half. In the first few plays of the game we ran a quick ball screen and shot a three, then the next time down, one pass and shot a three - we have to stop doing that. We need to run our offense, tempo the game a little bit and not try to knock them out in the first four minutes of the game. "

Missouri Player Quotes 1/22 vs. South Carolina

Mizzou Center Alex Oriakhi

On his offensive improvement throughout the game...
"I think it was Coach's halftime speech. He questioned our toughness; he challenged us. Personally, I wanted to take it on as a challenge and see how I was going to respond. Every time guys missed a shot I was doing everything in my power to get the offensive rebound and finish. I think that improved my offense, my rebounds, and my overall play."

On getting to the free-throw line...
"I think I definitely had the advantage in size. My teammates did a great job finding me. I always talk about how I work on my free throws before and after practice, so it's definitely paying off. I'm just relaxing and shooting the ball."

Mizzou Forward Earnest Ross

On the intensity between the first and second half...
"Defensively we came out a little slow in the first half. Back in the locker room we were all kind of down on ourselves. Coach Haith came in and gave us a great speech, and that intensity that he brought to our team not only gave him trust in us, we had to make sure we trusted him.

On playing through injury...
"It was pretty much a mental thing. Our trainer got me right yesterday and today, I did a lot of treatment. Whether I was going to fight through this pain, regardless I was going to try to help my team and do what I can do."

South Carolina Head Coach Frank Martin

Opening Statement
"We played with some resolve and fight. We played pretty well on both ends of the floor. We committed some silly fouls that put them on the line. We can't do that because Missouri is a really good team and will get to the line. I've been in this building enough to know that regardless of what your lead is, they will always make a push and this crowd is incredible."

On Phil Pressey's closing performance...
"Phil is a heck of a player. Three year starting point guard, that's invaluable. Two years with Frank Haith and he understands what they want. He had a couple turnovers early on but then he just settled down and played. They got that shot for Earnest Ross coming up the top of the key right at the end of the shot clock, all because of Phil. We pressured him, but that pressure didn't get to him. He kept the ball when needed and got the ball to where he knew his guy would make the shot."

On the Missouri atmosphere...
"I'm coming in here trying to beat Missouri and it is a hard, hard place to win. We are not the only team to have come in here and lost. Winning here over the last seven years for me the record here has just been ridiculous. The fans here have a lot of class. I have been to a lot of arenas where the things that are said are not nice. Here it has always been off the charts. The atmosphere, the competiveness, the coaches they have a lot of class. That speaks volumes."

On his team moving forward...
"We have to understand our guys are laying it out on the line. Now we have to teach as coaches and figure out a way that makes us feel confident coming down the stretch. So we can make better plays. We had the opportunities to make a defensive stop but we were not disciplined. We were not disciplined in that moment. It is about demanding that people believe in who they are. I said this before; I was raised to worry only about what you have and not worry about what you don't have. Once you figure out what you have, you make the best of it. Every single day and that's what I want our guys to do. We just have to be more fearless in the moment."

South Carolina Player Quotes

Junior Guard Bruce Ellington

On the shots Missouri made late...
"They found an open guy and knocked it down. We just got a little slow on defense."

On if South Carolina got too confident when up 13 points...
"Well it's an away game, it's their house, they're going to try to come back and win at home. They don't want to lose at home so we just came out knowing it was 0-0. You had to come out and continue to play. We just have to look on what we did today and continue to build on it. "

On what changed during Mizzou's big run...
"Coach said that between the 16 and 12 minute mark, we didn't pace our offense very well. The crowd started to get in to it, we started to take bad shots out of our offense, and they started to make a run."

Junior Guard Brenton Williams

On whether or not South Carolina let up when up 13 points...
"I don't think our players took a break. We had a stretch there where we couldn't make a basket but we didn't take a break."
